Greene’s Law of Power #31: “Control the options: Get others to play with the cards you deal.”

REVERSAL: Provide space for others the freedom to create options as you go. This creates partnerships, collaborations, and ultimately mutual respect.

INTERCEPTING THOUGHTS:

What happens when someone creates options? Does control truly slip away? Is true power revealed by the ability to adapt?

What are the options you are offering someone else? How does the variation of the script go according to your own authorship? What are the options available to you at this moment? Who is offering these options?

What happens when you “lay all the cards on the table”? What truths are revealed and how might that change the dynamic? Does this require a degree of bravery?

Why is creative free-thinking so feared? Then again, why is discipline often avoided? Are you able to play both the cards of creative expansion and critical discipline? What is the critical gap there in mastering both of these “cards” being dealt? Is the nature of duality the only game in town?

At every opportunity you have the ability to create options. Some might call this “re-creating yourself” (which has been a previous law of power.) Do you agree with the laws of powers as listed? Do you agree with the reversals? Or are you acknowledging becoming something of a hybrid with the freedom to choose at every moment?

Greene’s Law of Power #32: “Play to people’s fantasies.”

I think I will quote this one directly: “The truth is often avoided because it is ugly and unpleasant. Never appeal to truth and reality unless you are prepared for the anger that comes from disenchantment. Life is so harsh and distressing that people who can manufacture romance or conjure up fantasy are like oases in the desert: Everyone flocks to them. There is great power in tapping into the fantasies of the masses.”

THE REVERSAL: To the healed mind, reality’s bark is worse than its bite.

INTERCEPTING THOUGHTS:
Have you ever experienced the power of cooperative partnership by addressing the truth head on? Is the truth so fearful because most of us have to approach it alone since the “masses” are flocking around fantasy?

Why is anger and wrath of another human being feared so much? Is it because we have not been prepared yet to face our own anger and triggers?

What is it that makes life so “harsh” and “distressing” according to Greene? Do not the very words solicit a harsh and distressing response? Perhaps we should explore the question, what truths are calming and pleasing? (Is the first answer which comes to mind when internal exploring a “Deep Truth” perceived as a fantasy or reality?)

What is the worst thing you have ever encountered in life? Was it because you had confronted truth? How can deeper truth be any worse than that?

How does becoming aware of truth help heal the mind? What is a “healed mind” in your opinion?

Greene’s Law of Power # 33: “Discover each man’s thumbscrew.”

THE REVERSAL: Discover your own thumbscrew and heal it completely.

INTERCEPTING THOUGHTS:
Do you know what your own thumbscrew is? If not, what would it take to discover it? If so, what will it take to heal it?

Let’s say for a moment we agree on and believe that society is ruled by a “Corporatocracy”. Have you discovered the system’s “thumbscrew”? Could it be that the reversal presented in this entry IS that thumbscrew? That is, if the collective individuals healed their own thumbscrews there would be no leverage left for an unseen ruling force to exploit.

Which recent news event triggered you the most? Weinstein? The Vegas shooting? The NFL? The Korea crisis? What might this trigger reveal about your own thumbscrew?

What does healing meant to you? Are you seeking a state of peace or to dominate those who have a propensity for domination? Is “peace” enough when you think about what it means to achieve a state of healing? Or will only dominance suffice on those deeper levels?

Would you be willing to reconsider your own agenda to achieve a state of global harmony? Would you be willing to heal yourself and then listen with an open heart to someone else? If so, please consider participating in future installments of this conversation.

Greene’s Law of Power # 34: “Be royal in your own fashion: act like a King to be treated like one.”

THE REVERSAL: Royalty has a tendency to invite jealousy.

What exactly about your personality needs to express “royalty”? Is it the ego or a sense of justice?

At what point does “acting” like a King lead to an egocentric obsession with influence using psychological control dramas?

The archetype of a “King/Queen” can have both positive and negative associations. What is your interpretation of the royal archetype and what do you see as your relationship to this archetype?

Where does the source of a King’s power come from if not in the mind and a conditioned psychological projection? What if one aspired to explore this distinction? Would this not eventually break the illusion of royalty?

Might being treated with mutual respect and genuine kindness supersede the addictive need for being treated like royalty?

Greene’s Law of Power # 35: “Master the art of timing.”

THE REVERSAL: (Ugh. I agree with this one too.) Be present to this moment so that you no longer have to “work” at mastering the art of timing.

INTERCEPTING THOUGHTS:
Our personal perceptions of time and space also determine our perception of personal power. What would be different if you had no obligations with how or with whom you spend your time? What if time were unlimited – what would be different?

What if generation of economy and attainment of resources were determined not by money, but rather, how you spent your time and focus? What new life visions come up for you when considering an economy run on time rather than money?

Is mastering the art of timing the same as mastering one’s emotions? Does your emotional state change when time were not an issue?

What if every moment offered a new choice? Are you aware of your choices in this moment simply by reading and understanding this question? What are those choices you might be creating that are coming into awareness?

Once discerning what your new choice is, what new commitment of your time are you willing to become dedicated to? What if truly listening deeply and responding to others helped to create the same freedom of choice?
