Love, Peace & Harmony — A Spiritual Journey and Meditation Experience
What happens when we take the time not only to listen to someone’s spiritual journey, but to experience a practice that has helped shape their life?
In this installment of The Living Library, Michael Shoeman welcomes Reverend Judy Sato for a heartfelt conversation about spirituality, our connection with all living beings, and the practice of Love, Peace and Harmony meditation. Judy’s spiritual journey began in childhood, influenced by her grandmother’s interest in yoga, spiritual teachings, and the wisdom of different traditions. That early foundation eventually led Judy into ministry, working with animals through the Tellington T-Touch method, and exploring spiritual teachings that continue to influence her life today.
📚 The Stories and Teachings That Shape Us
Throughout the conversation, Judy shares some of the books and spiritual traditions that have inspired her, including:
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz
Be Here Now by Ram Dass
Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White
Her studies in Raj Yoga with the Brahma Kumaris
We also explore the idea of Divine Oneness, the relationships we share with animals and other living beings, and the possibility of experiencing spiritual connection in everyday life. One particularly memorable story involves Judy’s encounter with a spider—a reminder that even our smallest interactions can invite us to reconsider how we relate to the world around us.
🕊️ From Conversation to Meditation
The second part of our Living Library experience becomes interactive as Reverend Sato introduces the Love, Peace and Harmony meditation. Using music, one-stroke calligraphy, gentle movement, and focused attention, Judy invites us to explore a practice intended to cultivate greater peace and harmony within ourselves and in our relationships with others. Rather than simply describing the meditation, Judy demonstrates it, inviting Michael—and those watching—to participate. You can follow along by tracing the calligraphy with your finger, exploring gentle body movements, or simply listening to the music. No previous meditation experience is necessary.
❤️ An Invitation to Practice
Reverend Judy Sato also facilitates a weekly Love, Peace and Harmony meditation through Circle of Miracles. Every Sunday at 7:00 PM Eastern via Zoom Approximately 30 minutes (Go to circleofmiracles.org and click on the Events and Calendar link.) These gatherings offer an opportunity to continue exploring the practice in community.
⏳ Your Time Has Value — The Living Library Time Bank One of the principles behind the Living Library is that listening, learning, reflection, and spiritual practice are meaningful contributions to our lives and communities. All time spent watching or reviewing this conversation—and all other Living Library conversations—is creditable as hours through the Living Library Time Bank. And for this particular installment, time spent practicing Reverend Sato’s Love, Peace and Harmony meditation is also bankable.
Whether you spend an hour listening to someone’s story or thirty minutes practicing meditation, your investment of time has value.
🌱 The Living Library: More Than a Conversation
As we continue exploring what it means to be in right relationship—with ourselves, one another, and the world around us—perhaps we can begin with something simple: Listening to another person’s story. Experiencing something that matters to them. And allowing ourselves to discover what that experience might awaken within us. Because sometimes the greatest gift we can offer one another isn’t an answer. It’s our presence.
