Social Media: Vice or Virtue?

Fellowship Circle recorded on March 31, 2021.

Inspired by our conversations with the Phoenixville Area Time Bank and Phoenixville Area Transition.

Are you or someone you know addicted to social media?

Do platforms like Facebook, Google, and YouTube play a role in violent conflicts – both foreign and domestic?

Are you curious about why meaningful discourse seems so elusive on social media platforms?

Most people are not aware that Big Tech business models for social media use are designed to dominate your attention while changing your behavior. Due to the rise in usage, mental health issues — including pre-teen suicidal ideation — have increased over 100% since 2010 as social media became more accessible.

Please join us for an open, honest discussion about the role technology and social media play in our lives.”Social Media: Vice or Virtue” will also focus on a topic which has thus far received little to no media attention: How would an Online Content Provider Union change our relationship with this technology?
