Trauma Sensitive Leadership: Randy Hyden

Living Library, Episode 20

The Trauma Sensitive Leadership Series is a new branch of the Living Library Series. Our mission is to open up conversations about mental health, spirituality and politics from a trauma-informed perspective. We hope to bridge the gap in misunderstandings by asking “What happened to you?” instead of asking “What is wrong with you?”

In this installment, Randy Hyden and Mike Shoeman explore the intersection between the 12-step recovery process and the values of trauma informed care. The conversation also addresses the intervention of a spiritual awakening and how that may show up for different people.

The trauma sensitive values touched on include:

Peer Support

Safety

Transparency and Trust

Voice, Choice and Empowerment

Mutuality and Collaboration

The Living Library Series was inspired by the Human Library concept originating in Denmark. The purpose of these conversations is to honor diversity, equality and inclusivity in the spirit of “not judging a book by its cover”. All hours spent viewing The Living Library conversations may be redeemed as an “Hour Served” at the Karmic Margin Call Project Time Bank.
